Lalia - My Favorite Holiday

Eid-ul-Fitr is my Favorite Holiday that we celebrate in Pakistan. This holiday is one celebrated by Muslims. Eid-ul-Fitr is the holiday that celebrates the end of Ramadan.
Ramadan is a month during which all Muslims fast (don’t eat or drink) during the day. Children and elderly don’t fast. We are able to eat and drink before sunrise and after sunset.

There are three days of Eid-ul-Fitr. I love this holiday because it is about being with your family and your friends.  My family has a good way to celebrate Eid.  My family’s tradition is that girls put on henna mehndi on our hands. It is like a temporary tattoo.

Each day of Eid, we all get dressed in new clothes. Then we go around the house and say, “Eid Mubarak” to everybody in our house. After that, the girls recite namaz (pray) and the boys go to the mosque to pray. Then we go to our cousin’s house, or our grandparent’s house, or they all come to our house. We play, talk, and then eat dinner together.
